Expert in Brief Systemic Therapies

About Me

I was born in Málaga in 1989 and completed most of my education here. After graduating in psychology, I specialized in systemic therapies. I am a licensed General Health Psychologist, and in 2020 I earned my PhD in Psychology with the highest distinction, Outstanding Cum Laude and International Mention.

I have always been curious, critical, and self-directed; this drives me to read and learn continuously. I am passionate about psychotherapy, research, and broadening my horizons. Outside work, I enjoy playing guitar, video games, traveling, photography, and crafting the best possible pizza dough :)

therapy

Psychotherapy

The goal of psychotherapy is to help people of all ages achieve happier, healthier, and more productive lives. To accomplish this, we engage in a collaborative dialogue where clients share their difficulties, define meaningful goals for their lives, and work alongside the therapist to explore effective alternatives, building upon existing strengths and progress.

All consultations take place in a climate of trust, respect, and confidentiality, applying scientifically validated clinical procedures tailored to each individual.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does treatment take?

Sessions typically last around one hour, and treatment averages five sessions. Often, a single session provides significant clarity; in other cases, nine, ten, or more sessions are beneficial. As a collaborative process, the duration is tailored strictly to your needs, aiming for the most efficient and lasting change.

When should I start?

Most clients seek therapy after feeling sad, anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck for an extended period, where personal efforts and support from loved ones have not resolved the situation. Other times, specific life crises trigger complex challenges that require specialized guidance.

What issues do you address?

Common clinical areas include anxiety, excessive worry, phobias, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, and educational challenges.

What therapeutic model do you use?

I work within brief systemic frameworks, specifically an integrative model grounded in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), the MRI Strategic approach, Narrative therapy, and Structural family therapy.

research

Researching Psychotherapy

I hold a PhD in Psychology from the University of Málaga. Over recent years, I have specialized in data science, particularly natural language processing in clinical settings. I trained in Baltimore on the RIAS observational coding system, and later conducted a predoctoral fellowship in Victoria (Canada) with Dr. Janet Bavelas, learning the core foundations of microanalysis of face-to-face dialogue.

My research investigates the strategic use of language in psychotherapeutic interactions using observational methodology and sequential analysis. I focus on mutual understanding, grounding, and therapist responsiveness, as well as fundamental mechanisms of change, common factors, linguistics, and process automation in therapy.
